My heart yearns for you
Aching with the solemnity
Of loneliness
As my fingers reach out to caress
Your soft frame
Yet all I can feel
Are the empty sheets
And dusty pillow
On the side of the bed
Where you used to lay
And I can’t help but wonder
If my hands will ever stop
Searching for you
But I have yet to discover
Whether that is either
A blessing or a
Curse
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Do not. That is what keeps us my friend.
Title! :p
Beautiful:)
Thank you!
Amazing work
Thanks!
It touched my heart !!!!!
Sensitive and powerful at the same time! Wonderful.
Thank you!
I’m glad to read empty bed poems by someone other than myself. Well done.
Thank you!
this is beautiful.
Thank you!
This is really beautiful, and simple, and sincere. It’s a resigned kind of sadness & nostalgia that I remember having felt one too many times in the past. ❤ Great job!
Thank you!
Hey Reject Reality! (I don’t know your name yet!) I noticed that you like a lot of my poems, so I thought I’d come by and check yours out. Nice work. This one in particular reminds me of one of mine called “Stay.” http://moonring.wordpress.com/2013/03/18/stay/ Anyway, I think it’s pretty swell when two people have had a similar experience but express it in different ways. Happy writing to you!
All the best,
Ashley
You’re welcome and thanks!
You can really feel the emotion and passion behind your writing. Well done!
Thank you!
Reblogged this on kinginascent and commented:
I feel the hunger here and I envy the subject even as i feel dismay for the hunger he’s brought about in the poem.
There’s no “he” but thanks
Forgive my assumption. I meant no offence.
It’s okay!
Catherine,
It’s a wonderful poem, with an easy-paced rhythm, that will, I’m sure, resonate with the experience of many of your readers (followers) in some way. Well done.
Thank you!
I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse. You’ve been blessed by having him in your bed before, now you’ve been cursed since he’s gone. But he’s only gone from your bed, not your heart. Keep feeling him there. But also, I hope you can find the courage to move on again and find another lover with soft skin to lay with. That’s my dream, maybe you share it too. I just know that my bed is not empty so long as I’m in it.
It’s not quite so autobiographical but thank you
Yes, I agree. Nothing insults me more than having someone comment on the content like a therapist. The writing is all we can really comment on. How well did she achieve a certain effect? How does the piece sound? What emotions did it evoke for the reader? Let’s not forget we’re reading art, here; not an autobiography.
Thank you! I agree
A powerful denouement transforms this into a beautiful bittersweet piece. Nice work.
Thank you!
The poem is beautiful. Truly stunning!
Thank you!
Great words. Written perfectly x
Thank you!
“A blessing or a
Curse”
Curse or blessing. Become less painful and sweeter with time. A beautiful poem.
Thanks!
You are welcome.
I really love this piece.
Thanks!
Oh… My… Goodness…
This piece really speaks to me…
You could have written this from behind my eyes…
❤
Thanks for reading!
